China?!

A trip - to China?! That's right, we are moving. We have absolutely loved our time in Washington D.C., and now its on to the next chapter in our life.

Jonathan was accepted into the International MBA program at the prestigious Tsinghua University (at least, its very prestigious in China.) We are leaving the DC area the end of June to visit family in California for a month or so, and then moving to Beijing in mid-August.

But why China?

This trip - really this move - is going to fulfill several of our goals, and dreams, that we both have. In fact, even before we met, both Noel and I had plans to live in China. I also wanted to pursue a graduate degree at some point, and finally narrowed it down to an MBA.

I looked into MBA programs in the US, and did apply to one. However, the timing for Tsinghua University could not be more perfect. Started in 1997 in conjunction with MIT's Sloan School of Managment, the Tsinghua School of Economics and Management has become the top MBA program in China. After two years, I hope to not only have an MBA, but also have a fluency in Chinese and the Chinese culture that will be beneficial to both of us in the future.

More to come soon...

  2. My wife and I were in Beijing in October 2007. We had a great time. Their road network, especially in the outer suburbs was very impressive. So much to see and lots of friendly people. Now, China has the added caveat of being a little more capitalistic then we are. Sounds like a great opportunity. Congratulations on your acceptance.
